Last week of T3GL9 Preseason |
Posted by Nighthawk on Tuesday 23rd of September 2008 12:12:41 AM
This is the last week of T3GL9 preseason. It's not too late however to create a new squad or join an existing one.
This league will likely run until the end of November, in time for each squad to play each other twice.
Also, as no team has submitted a map, I think we will trash the 'home arena' idea.

IP Change |
Posted by Nighthawk on Monday 08th of September 2008 05:02:17 PM
Change of the server's IP address has been completed. However there are currently two problems:
We are not registering on directory servers (sscentral.sscuservers.net seems to be down, and auto.subdir.net is still on the old IP) Do not yet have SSC billing access
Please be patient while these things are sorted out. In the mean time, the address of the new server is 64.84.99.94: You can manually update your zone.dat file to connect to the zone if you know how to do this.

SS Radio |
Posted by Nighthawk on Sunday 17th of August 2008 03:57:36 PM
We will be participating in an upcoming SS Radio station. We'll be looking for some QUALITY DJs for our zone's time slot!
Here's some more info from Chambahs:
QUOTE NOTICE: THIS IS ALL IN A BRAINSTORMED PROCESS, NOTHING IS FINAL. THIS IS A GENERAL OUTLINE OF HOW THINGS WILL BE. IT IS THE BASIC STRUCTURE AND WILL BE EDITED.
Objective: ----------
The objective and goal is to create an SSC Wide "SS Radio" that all players from all zones across the SSC network can connect to. Thus, helping continuum become more centralized/unified/comming more together as a network, more than being seperated.
Support: --------
All major SSC zone sysops/owners have said that this is a great idea for the SS community and have agreed to participate and help support the idea of an "SS Radio". All current zone radios (EG Radio, TW Radio, etc) will be redirecting listeners to the new "SS Radio" as well.
Protocol: ---------
All zones will be given connection information, which will then be passed down to the zone's choice of DJ's. The DJ's will have a time slot of when they will be hosting radio for their represented zone. Each DJ can represent their zone on air by mildly advertising, hosting events, doing shout outs, taking song request, and just having fun. Its all pretty much about having fun while playing. Stress free, listening to music, and just enjoy yourselves.
Advertising: ------------
Advertising of zones is allowed, as long as it is under control. There is a difference between "MG is current having a big prized event, you should come check it out." and "OMG COME TO TW, ITS THE BEST ZONE EVAR, COME COME COME" after every song. If there are DJs that would like to go zone hopping and give information on all zones, thats fine too. A simple "Im in DS now and theres alot of pop in here, big flag game going on, jackpot is big." and a couple minutes later saying "Just came into EG and staff is giving out free prizes". As long as it is subtle and mild, then its all fine, and actually encouraged to advertise, that is what its all about, spreading the word across the SSC Network's players.
Zone Airing Rotation: ---------------------
A rotation is currently not set up. I will be having discusions with zone owners/sysop/participants about it. When everyone comes to an agreement, it will then be posted and put into effect. I understand there are alot of zones and little time, I will try to work out the best schedule.
Rules: ------
The same as the rotation, the final rules will be discussed upon with the sysops/zone owners/participants. But, as you can already guess, the basic stuff will be in effect. Such as: No obnoxious/mass advertising, no harrassment towards listeners/players, no obsessive/overboard swearing, and other general/basic rules.
Moderation: -------------
The majority of moderation will be the listeners themselves. If there are alot of complaints about a specific DJ, the problem will be talked about and resolved. Also, there will be a few people I might pick just to pop in and listen to check if any rules are being broken. This, as well as everything else, is not final.
Host: -----
Currently the hosting of the SS radio is undetermined. I have a couple of people in mind and a couple of plans, but nothing is set in stone yet. If you would like to be the one to help out and have a spare server/bandwidth lying around, then let me know.
Website: ----------
A website is currently needed to be designed. I have talked to Polix, and it will be hosted on SScentral.com. If anyone would like to help develop a website, then please contact me.
Participants: -------------
The following list is a list of people/zones I have talked to, and who will help support SS Radio:
SSCC Star Wars Empire SSCC Desert Storm SSCC Metal Gear CTF SSCE Hyperspace SSCU Extreme Games SSCX Chaos/League Zone SVS SSCE Hockey Zone SSCU Death Star Battle SSCU Trench Wars SSCX PowerBall T3 The Gauntlet SSCW Unreal Tournament SSCI Fusion Polix (www.sscentral.com) Ghost Ship (Biller-Wide Advertisements) Also, all zone owners/sysops have agreed to advertise the SS radio as far as zone websites/forums go, as well as in-game. And I thank all of you again with your support.
Remember, this is all just the first step on setting this idea up. Nothing is yet set in stone. There will be changes and adjustments to certain things. Right now, this is just a heads up for all of you to discuss upon, and to get psyched about!

T3GL9 |
Posted by Nighthawk on Thursday 14th of August 2008 11:13:49 PM
T3GL9 is just around the corner! We are pleased to announce season nine of our long lasting league.
This season will be traditional best of 3, 3vs3 matches. However, to change things up a little bit, each squad will be able to submit their own map to act as their home arena. For any particular best of 3 match, one team will be playing in the other team's home arena. Squads not wishing to submit a map will have the regular league map as their home arena.
Here are some guidelines for squad wishing to submit an arena of their own:
-Inner playing area must be the same dimensions as the current league map. -Ratio of open space to obstacles (tiles) should be roughly the same as the current map. -Obstacles should be either exactly the same as the current league map, or slightly different. Actual obstacle placement is up to the map maker. -Custom tilesets are permitted; however, they must not have any trick tiles (hard to see, invisible, or otherwise confusing or inappropriate). -Maps are subject to approval by league staff, and may be modified by them at any time.
League details: 3vs3 matches Roster size of 9 Preseason to start the weekend of September 6th.
The league website will be open for registration within a week. You may submit squad maps to nighthawk@t3g.org once you have registered as a squad on the league website.
Also, we are still looking for referees! Please apply at http://forums.t3g.org/index.php?showtopic=7488 Becoming a successful referee is the best way to become a moderator in this zone!

Calling all EUROS |
Posted by ABo on Friday 16th of May 2008 05:54:34 PM
I'm making up some question sets for you guys since the sports ones I had made before generated some across the seas interest. Yet, I'm going to need some help since my Euro Sport knowledge isn't very good. If anyone would like to help make a question set (25-30 QUESTIONS) send me an in game message. I'm trying to think of a way to reward those of you who will be making question sets.
Thanks
p.s. This wouldn't be completely Euro, it is just a deviation from typical US sport.
Also, because of the timezones, you all must let me know suggestions on when you would like the Euro trivia to take place.
All input appreciated.

-T3G SUPER POINTS- |
Posted by Badger3920 on Tuesday 13th of May 2008 10:42:53 PM
Beginning this coming monday, t3g is upping the stakes for an entire week. Monday through Friday, all points will be double what they'd normally be. Jackpots will be twice as large and raise twice as fast. This goes all week long until Saturday.
Beginning on Friday night at 11:59pm, points will TRIPLE for the entire weekend!
We encourage everyone to have their squads in order, and ready to fight for top honors -- the squad with the most points. If there was ever a time to showcase your squads basing strength, now is it!
Hope to see you all there, and feel free to place your bets in this thread.

Ladder League 2008 |
Posted by Nighthawk on Tuesday 25th of March 2008 03:50:44 PM
Ladder League 2008 registration is now open. Matches will be available to be played starting next weekend (March 29th).
Here are the details of the league:
Matches: There will be two types of matches -- challenge matches, and scheduled matches. Scheduled matches (3vs3) will be worth more ladder points than challenge matches. Teams will be able to challenge other teams at any time (3vs3 or 2vs2). Scheduled games will be every Sunday.
Ladder System: The amount of points a team gains or loses after a match will be determined by the ELO rating system. What this means is that lower ranked teams will get more points for a win on a higher ranked team, and a higher ranked team defeating a lower ranked team will get less points. The maximum points won or lost by a team from a single match will be higher for scheduled matches, and less for challenge matches, as mentioned above. This should promote teams to have many challenge matches during the week without having to worry too much about playing with their top lineup.
Playoffs: Once the regular season has ended, the top four (or possibly three, TBD) teams will enter into a single round playoff event. During this single game, all teams will participate in a team vs team vs team free for all, last team/player standing wins. The winner of this single event will be deemed winner of the tournament. This event will be held in a larger arena (likely squadwars).
There will also be a similar event for the teams that did not make the playoffs.
Roster size: 10 Squads may split into multiple teams.
Duration: The playoff game will be held the weekend of May 24.
Registration: http://league.t3g.org You must have a valid forums.t3g.org account to register.

Christmas Map and T3GL8 Update |
Posted by Nighthawk on Thursday 06th of December 2007 05:20:10 AM
Thanks to DeniedX and Demonsith, we have a christmas map and some graphics goodies up in pub. Good job, guys. We always welcome map or graphic contributions from players, whether they be potentials for public or specific event arenas.
In other news, the last regular season round of T3GL8 goes this weekend. The first round of playoffs will begin immediately the weekend after, with the 1st place team receiving a bye to the second round (every team will make the playoffs).

New Staff |
Posted by Badger3920 on Sunday 04th of November 2007 01:26:39 PM
Everyone take a chance to thank Guest1017 for his continued league match oversight, and congratulate him on his promotion to moderator. Guest will continue to serve our league from his new position, and will add to the positive environment in our zone.
On a side note, it appears like the correct way to try for a staff position is to make a completely terrible name and follow it with 4 numbers
Congratulations to Guest
